Fields, golden hour, a vintage chair, and an orange Jeep named Crush. This one had everything.

If you read Sadie's fall session post, you already know a little bit about who she is. The no-filter questions. The dry humor. The giant heart underneath all of it. What you might not know is that when we started planning the spring session, the very first thing she mentioned was her Jeep.
Her orange Jeep Wrangler — named Crush, naturally — is not just a car. It's an extension of her personality, packed with rubber ducks on the dash and personality to spare.
This session was everything the fall one wasn't — soft, golden, wide open, rooted in Pell City where she spent her high school days. We planned it that way intentionally. Fall got the city. Spring got the fields, the light, the vintage props, and the version of Sadie that kicks her shoes off and runs barefoot through the grass without a second thought.

The black jumpsuit — open field, spring light
We started in an open field just as the afternoon light was starting to turn warm, and Sadie in the black jumpsuit was the perfect contrast against all that spring green. Easy, relaxed, completely herself. The floppy hat came out for a few frames and gave us something quieter — a little more moody, a little more still — that balanced out the laughing-with-her-whole-face energy she brings to every single shot.
The yellow dress — fence, field, and freedom
Then came the yellow dress, and everything changed. There is something about a bright yellow dress in a spring field at golden hour that is almost impossible to photograph badly — and Sadie made it look effortless. She leaned on the fence and laughed and looked over her shoulder and then at some point just started spinning, barefoot in the grass, with the light catching the layers of that dress like it was made for exactly this moment. It was.
That black and white running shot is one of my absolute favorites from this entire session. There's something about stripping the color away that puts all the focus on the movement, the light, the feeling of that moment — a girl in the middle of her last spring before everything changes, running through a field like she has nowhere to be and all the time in the world. I love that image.
The cream dress — vintage chair and golden hour magic
For one of the final looks we brought out the vintage chair — one of my favorite props — and settled into the last of the golden hour light. Sadie in cream, barefoot in the grass, the warm sun coming in low behind the trees. This is the version of Pell City I want people to see when they think about senior photos here. Not a studio. Not a backdrop. Just Alabama in the spring, doing what it does best.

The Samford shirt — and the red barn wall
We ended the session with one more look — her Samford University shirt against the red barn wall — and it was the perfect closing note. This is where she's headed next. This is what she's excited about. You can see it in her face in every frame from this spot — that particular kind of joy that comes from knowing exactly what's coming and being completely ready for it.
Sadie — two sessions, four looks, one orange Jeep, and more genuine laughter than I can count. It has been such a joy to document this season of your life. Pell City hasn’t been the same since you went to Samford, but something tells me you're going to absolutely light that place up. Go get it, girl.

There are some people who walk into a session and the camera just finds them. Sadie is one of those people. I've known her and her family for a long time — I've photographed her sisters, captured their family together more times than I can count — and every single time, she shows up fully herself. No performance. No filter. Just Sadie, which turns out to be more than enough.
For this fall session, we decided to go all in on Birmingham. We knew a spring session was already on the calendar, so we made a plan: save the natural and outdoor settings for spring, and use the fall to take full advantage of everything the city has to offer — murals, alleyways, architectural details, and a rooftop at golden hour that we saved for last. It was the right call.

The blue look — color meets the city
We kicked things off with Sadie's cobalt blue top paired with her custom senior jeans — and it set the tone for the whole session immediately. That bold, saturated blue against Birmingham's tree-lined streets and murals was exactly the kind of contrast I love to shoot. The color does the heavy lifting while the city provides the texture. Sadie brought the movement — walking, laughing, completely in her element from the very first frame.
The rust dress — something softer
As the session moved into the covered walkway and garden areas, Sadie slipped into a gorgeous rust-toned dress and the whole vibe softened into something more autumnal and timeless. The fall foliage behind her, the warm light filtering through — these images feel like they could have been taken anywhere in the world, and they're some of my personal favorites from the entire session.
Golden hour in the alley — and the stairs
Before we made our way to the rooftop, we stopped in one of my favorite overlooked spots in Birmingham — a narrow alley that catches the last of the golden hour light in a way that feels almost cinematic. Sadie in that black oversized sweater, sitting on the ground laughing, standing on the stairs with this steady, quiet confidence — these are the images that remind me why I love what I do. The stairs especially. There's something about that shot that will never go out of style.

The rooftop at sunset — the perfect ending
We saved the rooftop for last, and Birmingham did not disappoint. As the sun dropped behind the skyline, that pink and violet sky opened up behind the Redmont Hotel sign, city lights just starting to flicker on — it was one of those evenings where everything comes together and you just have to get out of the way and let it happen. Sadie twirled and laughed and owned every inch of that rooftop like she'd been there a hundred times before. It was the perfect closing note to a session that had everything.
Sadie — you have always been one of a kind, and these photos show it. Watching you step into your senior year with that same no-filter, big-hearted, quietly hilarious energy you've always had is one of my favorite things. I'm so glad we got to document this season of your life, and I cannot wait to show off what we did in the spring of your senior year too.

Four years later, she walked back in front of my
camera — and she had become everything.

Some sessions stop you in your tracks. Not because everything went perfectly or the light cooperated just right — but because you look through your viewfinder and you realize you're watching someone step fully into themselves. That's what Brooke's graduation session was for me.
I first photographed Brooke four years ago for her high school senior pictures. She was beautiful then — full of life, radiant, already somebody. But this time? She walked onto that street in Birmingham and I genuinely had to take a breath. The girl I photographed four years before had become a woman. Confident, grounded, glowing with the kind of joy that comes from actually knowing who you are and where you're going.
This family has meant so much to me over the years. I've photographed Brooke's sister Hannah's senior pictures, and Grace is already featured on my website. Their whole family has been a constant source of encouragement and warmth, and every time I get to photograph one of them, it feels like a gift. Brooke is no exception. She brings a radiant joy to every session — but this one was different. This one had weight to it. A real sense of arrival.
The vision: cool girl in the city
When Brooke arrived for her session, I knew the direction pretty quickly: high-fashion, editorial, New York City energy — but rooted right here in Birmingham. Think cool girl who just stepped off a flight, hailed a cab, and owns every block she walks down. Classic pieces with an elevated edge. The kind of style that doesn't try too hard because it doesn't have to.
Brooke nailed it. Every single look she brought had that quality — intentional without being overdone, confident without being performative. She moved through every location like she belonged there, because she did.
The locations
We worked through several spots around Birmingham — and the variety in this session is something I'm genuinely proud of. Downtown Birmingham has this incredible range of textures and energy: warm brick storefronts bathed in golden hour light, moody alleys with aged concrete and raw character, bold murals that turn a wall into a backdrop you couldn't manufacture in a studio, and wide city streets that give you that unmistakable urban scale.

The black and white images are some of my personal favorites from the entire session. There's something about stripping away the color that puts every ounce of attention on Brooke herself — her posture, her expression, the way she leans into the camera with total ease. That's not something you can coach. That's just her.
The white dress moment
When Brooke changed into the white ruffle dress, the whole energy of the session shifted — in the best way. The murals around Birmingham gave us the most extraordinary backdrops: bold pops of color that made that soft white dress feel like it was painted into the frame on purpose. And then as the light dropped and we moved to the street, the session took on something quieter and more cinematic. The black and white crosswalk shot might be my favorite image of the entire day.
The cap and gown
We ended the session with cap and gown, and it was the perfect closing note. By that point in the evening, Brooke was completely in her element — relaxed, lit up, beaming in a way that had nothing to do with the camera and everything to do with the moment. She was about to finish college. She was stepping into a whole new chapter. And every photo from that final location shows it. You can feel it.
Brooke — watching you grow from your high school senior session into the confident, radiant woman you are today has been one of the genuine honors of my career. You have always been a light. Whatever chapter comes next for you, I am so grateful I got to be there to photograph this one. You were made for every good thing ahead of you.
